Downtown mixed-use project launched again

With a new design and drastically lower prices, Cameratta Properties is relaunching it First Street Village mixed-use development on the western edge of downtown Fort Myers.  "There's no better time to buy anything right now," said Joe Cameratta, chief executive officer of the Ft Myers based company, which is relaunching the project Friday after a three year hiatus caused by the housing crash.  The development sits across W. First St. from High Point Place, Cameratta's high rise, riverfront condominium that's about 70 percent sold out.

Consultant has new ideas to revitalize downtown Cape Coral

Small, inexpensive changes can add up to a refreshing new ambience and attract development to downtown Cape Coral, a planning consultant said Tuesday.

"We want to build up what is unique and authentic about Cape Coral" said Bernard  Zyscovich of Zyscovich Architects.  The firm was hired in March for $209,000 to come up with 2030 Vision Plan for the future of downtown.  Linking the business district with canals, riverfront and open space will create a new sense of place, he said during a presentation for city official.

Question:  Is there a right to cancel a lease after a landlord and a tenant have executed a residential lease agreement, and before the tenant has moved into the property? 

Answer: No. Section 83, Part ll, Florida Statutes, governing residential landlord and tenant law, doesn't allow a tenant or a landlord an automatic rescission period or right to cancel for executed lease agreements.  Once both the landlord and the tenant sign a lease agreement, it's legally binding, and they must comply with the terms.  However, parties may include a rescission period in the lease before it is signed.
